Default A General Guide to Warriors

Ok, I decided to put together a general guides for those who want information on warriors and plan on building one. I will cover what I can to hopefully give you a better idea of how warriors work.

First to those reading this guide. There is no "best" build, thanks to anet, the classes in guildwars are equally balanced. Though some build will work more efficiently then others, there won't be one build that "owns" all.

Introduction:
Warrior, the melee meat shield of this game. You can be the frontline fighter charging in first into battle or the heroic one that stands in front of your allies protecting them from all harm. A good warrior, whether he/she is a damage dealer or a tank, is always a good asset to a party!

Pros:
-Has the HIGHEST armor level in game.
-Constant good damage from swordies.
-Knock-Down and interupts from a hammer.
-High spike damage from axes.
-Can take the most hits before going down.
-New player friendly as it is easy to control.
-Can run all areas throughout Tyria.
-Can farm anywhere well.

Cons:
-Does physical damage which can be easily countered (ward against melee etc.)
-Gear can be expensive
-Alot ALOT of W/Mo in PvE which means, it can be hard to get into a group.
-A VERY gear dependent class.

Ok so now you want to pick the weapon that suits you. Remember again, there is no best weapon. Different weapons have their uses, and as long you like it, then it is the best weapon for you.

Swords:
Swords have the highest average damage due to the small range of min-max dmg (15-22) They can inflect conditions rather easy (sever artery, gash, hamstring). Swords are for damage over time warriors, the only spike skill '"Final Thrust" relies on the fact that your enemy is below 50% health which isnt all the time. But some skills in the attribute tatics like riposte is great.

Hammers:
I can't tell you much about hammer warriors as I never had experience playing one. Hammers have the highest max dmg in game (35). Hammers generally are for anti-caster builds as they can knock them down and interupt their spells rendering them useless. However, hammers are two handed therefore you are unable to equip a shield/focus AND the attack speed for hammers are slower.

Axes:
The most popular among warriors. With a high max dmg (28) it is a devastating weapon. Axes however have a rather low min dmg (6) and so your attacks arent that stable. But thats ok, axes have a high chance to hit criticals when your points in axe mastery are quite high. If you want to be a spiker, axe is the thing for you.

In conclusion, if you want to be a warrior that can take punishment yet can still deal out reasonable damage, go with swords. If you want to wield a big bad boy hammer, knock everthing flat and laugh at casters, go you hammer warrior. Lastly, if you want to deal alot of damage in a short amount of time, axes suit you best.

Other Info:
Swords generally are for PvE play as they combine nicely with skills in tatics. Conditions that they can inflict directly help the party alot. You can cripple a group of monsters and have your elementalist in your team blast them away with their huge shiny and pretty spells. Also, with a sword, you can build up adrenaline rather quickly and dish out attacks like sever artery early in the battle.

Hammers are used more often in PvP. Casters can cause a problem for your team. Its no problem with a hammer, squish them flat before they cast their spells. Hammers are all about timing, if you click a skill to early, you may end up lying dead as well. Practice alot with your hammer and you can stop casters anyday.

Axes are more among the spiking type like i mentioned before. With skills like Eviscerate, heavy damage and deepwound is inflicted on them lowering 20% of their maximum health. Executioners Strike is just pure power stuffed into one skill. With alot of axe skills having 6,7,or 8 adrenaline cost, its rather easy to have all your skills charged up at the same time, your enemies will not know what just hit them. Also axes recieve more bonuses from the axe mastery attribute later on.

WILL BE ADDING MORE SOON!
Please give me comments thanks =)

Default An Addition to your post

Thanks...hope you dont mind me adding to this. I have had this since I started my Warrior. I am happy you provided a thread that it fits into.

This is the cheapest way to get all your skills. They are in zone order to make it easy to know where to look. Remember that the cost goes up with each one you buy.

Pre-Searing Ascalon

This is a collection of the minds of many in the GW community. I have simply pieced them all together in order to offer a skills service for characters that want to rush and finish all skill quests along the way. I in no way take credit for any content within. I also thank the mad geniuses for all their hard work in developing their individual guides. – Me Nofat

Post Sear Ascalon

Quests to take in Ascalon City

Quest: The Kings Message
Giver: Warmaster Tydus
Reason/Reward: To unlock the Helping the People of Ascalon Quest
Summary You must do this with a party, Zain will not believe that you are messanger from the king without one. So, first go to where the henchmen are located and add Alesia to your party. Then exit Ascalon City and head west, the ambassador's camp is not very far and is in pretty much a straight line to the west. If you are fast enough you will see a conversation between the ambassador and Prince Rurik, when that is over (or if the prince is not there), simply talk to the ambassador to complete this quest. Ambassador Zain will then offer you two quests.

Quest: Barradin’s Advance
Giver: Captain Arne
Reason/Reward: To unlock the Supplies for the Duke Quest
Summary Exit Ascalon City into Old Ascalon and proceed west along the Wall. You will first reach Gate Guard Sebastein, (he will have a green exclamation mark over his head). If you talk to him, he admits that he has not seen Barradin or his troops and suggests that you talk to Gate Guard Hollis. Keep heading west and you will eventually reach Gate Guard Hollis. Talk to him and he will give you your reward and activate Barradin's Stand.

Quest: Supplies for the Duke
Giver: Gate Guard Hollis
Reason/Reward: Skill – “Watch Yourself!”
Summary Go through The Breach and bear left along the tar river. You'll find a Charr boss and a bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path. You'll have to go around left and then cut back through the hills to find the lost supply column. Each of your party who is doing this mission must touch one of the supply column members so that it will complete when you get to Piken Square. Once you gather the units just follow the green arrow and lead them to Piken Square without letting all of them die.

Nice one Me NoFat, but I would like to add: do NOT do the farmer dirk quest Later on, when you want to farm ettins, do the quest over and over again, the ettins will keep coming, much easier than running towards them all the time.
